Balloting for this year’s Legal Elite began in October 2006, when Florida Trend invited all in-state members of The Florida Bar to participate in the balloting. Announcements were placed in the Florida Bar Journal to publicize the ballot deadline and voting criteria. Additionally, we mailed ballots to the 2006 Legal Elite, the lawyers who participated in last year’s balloting, the top contact at law firms, local bar associations and Florida members of the Association of Corporate Counsel. Advertisements were placed in the Florida Bar News and on the Florida Bar website.

Attorneys were asked to name lawyers whom they hold in the highest regard —lawyers with whom they have worked or would recommend to others. In addition, they were asked to submit two names of the best up-and-coming attorneys in the state.
